Hundreds of years ago,
an idea was born. It was only a simple thought, but it took root in a handful of colonies that resented the oppression of the Old Powers: the Federation and the Empire. It was the idea that unity was more powerful than disparity; that peace could only be gained through cooperation. Before long, these whispers for change became a chorus of worlds, joining together with a common vision for the galaxy. Together, the members of this new coalition succeeded in uniting the largest group of systems in human history. They called it the Galactic Cooperative of Worlds.

A time of prosperity
dawned on all of civilization, and there was little the Federation or the Empire could do against the growing might of the Cooperative. It was during these peaceful years that GalCop launched a generation ship on Expedition Medusa, a mission to discover habitable worlds in the untouched reaches of the galaxy.
dawned on all of civilization, and there was little the Federation or the Empire could do against the growing might of the Cooperative. It was during these peaceful years that GalCop launched a generation ship on Expedition Medusa, a mission to discover habitable worlds in the untouched reaches of the galaxy.
And then the invasion came.
Possessing advanced technology
and an armada of automated vessels, the Thargoids pressed deeper and deeper into the frontiers of inhabited space. The Galactic Cooperative rallied countless pilots to defend against the alien threat, and after decades of costly fighting, they were finally victorious. But the price of war is high. As a result of the long struggle, the strength of GalCop diminished, and the old powers, who had weathered the storm from the shadows, emerged again to retake what they had lost. Surrounded and weak, GalCop was eventually defeated, and faded into the annals of time.

Centuries later,
the Medusa Exploration Vessel began its return to inhabited space, only to discover that the galaxy had once again fallen into chaos. For months, they traveled from system to system seeking answers, only to witness an unfamiliar world unfold around them. Referring to themselves only as “The Forgotten,” the crew was eventually contacted by the East India Company and given shelter at one of its holdings in Aiabiko in the year 3301.

Shortly thereafter,
on the surface of a planet in the Jotunheim system, researchers from the Revolutionary Jotunheim Resistance discovered the wreckage of a large ship dating back to the collapse of the old Galactic Cooperative. Unaware of the value or purpose of the vessel’s mysterious cargo, the scientists published an official request for assistance. But before this news caught the public’s attention, the EIC sprang into action. |
In a rapid series of events,
the East India Company struck an alliance with The Forgotten, purchased control of the entire Jotunheim system, and acquired the rights to the ancient Galactic Cooperative’s title. Before long, they began uniting with other systems in a mutual peace accord. Sirius Inc offered to support the fledgling Cooperative with its research and development, and the Diamond Frogs signed on with the full might of their private military. The Paladin Consortium, too, volunteered their services.

Soon after joining GalCop,
exploration vessels of the Da Vinci Corps were dispatched on confidential missions to map the farthest reaches of space, and Dark Echo was recruited to provide them with safe passage. The Exodus Coalition and the PBSF both entered the Cooperative as defenders of the newly organized territory.

To solidify its position
as the foremost defender of freedom and unity, GalCop participated in a massive competition for classified blueprints in the year 3302. Known as the "Dangerous Games," this event pushed many pilots to their breaking point. Due to a phenomenon affectionately termed, "developer sabotage," some of the Cooperative's navigation computers malfunctioned during the rush for these commodities, and left them stranded in random locations across the galaxy. |
In the wake of this challenge,
the Paladin Consortium was beset by political crises, which arose without warning in their home system. They hesitantly terminated their official membership with GalCop, but nevertheless remained strong supporters of the organization. In their place, the Sovereignty, formerly known as the Imperial Inquisition, joined the Cooperative. Atlas Corporation and the Candy Crew Guild both followed suit. |
The New Galactic Cooperative of Worlds
remains vigilant in its defense of both the inhabited bubble and the Colonia Nebula. Despite the outbreak of hostilities between the Federation and the Empire, GalCop has grown steadily stronger. With the emergence of a mysterious alien species, the timid candle of humanity's hope is kept aflame by a vestige of the past, reborn.
